Welcome to another week of the designer’s diaries where I share lessons on the journey to $10k/m as a designer & entrepreneur.
PS. I recently moved my Gumroad emails to Substack, so this might be new for you. If so, welcome to the community and let’s get going!
Content of the week:
3 lessons from Business
2 Ideas on Life
1 secret Offer
3 Lesson
1 . Saying NO to help others:
I’ve stretched myself too thin recently.
Got a job, volunteered to work on unpaid projects, freelancing taking off, partnering with a studio, and paid for a premium business coaching.
You could say I’m suffering from success, but it doesn't feel that way.
I can’t put my best into just one and get high-quality results because I’ve spread myself too thin with the Yeses I’ve said.
And this strains the experience of both parties involved.
It’s the season of NO and doubling down on what works.
2. Choose your regret:
The principle of opportunity cost is ingrained in every human, they just don’t realize it yet.
That moment when you have to choose between two favourable choices.
should I build my own thing or work a job?
should I tell this client how I feel or hold my horses?
should I reconcile with this person or let my ego rule?
These are examples of tough decisions we will all have to make one day.
When the time comes, don’t delay the inevitable only to regret later.
Set yourself free from the burden of regret.
3. Become a High Agency Individual
I didn’t know what a high agency person was until I listened to Alex Hormozi, a $200M CEO talk about it on a podcast and George Mack write a viral thread about it on Twitter.
My brain could never unsee it.
Here’s an example:
You know those friends who are always up to something weird or cool, or even both.
There’s a high chance they are high-agency individuals, it’s important to study them and apply traits to your life as well to become high-agency yourself.
I use this to filter my character traits and those of my close friends so we can keep improving.
I can’t give you the best explanation at the moment, so read about it in detail here.
2 Ideas
1. Reviving relationships:
Being obsessed comes with a price and in my personal life, my siblings are the price.
I’ve become distant and we have almost nothing to say to each other except the generic “how are you?”
I’m doing my best to call, say hi and revive the title spark left without sacrificing my work.
But I’d be working on it more and share my progress with you.
2. Building the money muscle:
I recently paid the most amount of money I’ve ever spent on a biz coach.
The words I could hear in my head when I was resisting were from Alex Hormozi “Pay down your ignorance debt”
So far, it’s been quite interesting to meet other folks and see the loopholes in my business.
Going forward, I am never going to stop paying for knowledge.
I’ll keep paying for guidance instead of resorting to saving because it makes me see money as a tool, not the price.
My Secret $29 Offer:
My web design business took off in January of this year. Since then, I have closed three clients, totaling over $1,000.
I’m glad businesses see the value in my work and pay me for it.
And I would like to give you such value as well, for just $29.
I’ll design you a landing page or redesign your current one.
For a testimonial and $29 within 3-4 business days.
PS. Worth it if you are a business owner, freelancer and solopreneur.
I can’t wait to help your business!
